Chaguaramas Military History & Aviation Museum (The)

Description

The Chaguaramas Military History and Aviation Museum was founded by Gaylord Kelshall, a former officer in the Trinidad & Tobago Coastguard and a former pilot. Here, an exciting collection of memorabilia is on display, including uniforms, ammunition and radio equipment used by soldiers in World Wars I and II. Children and adults alike get carried away as they climb into a simulated bunker, complete with gunfire sounds, stand next to massive tanks and view battle ship and fighter jet models.

Nice place
By ,
Quite a bit of information. I was there about 3 hours and throughly enjoyed it. Good mix of old and new history, plus military vehicles. The amphibian transport and L-1011 airplane were fun to walk through (even thought the airplane had nothing inside. I could have spent longer reading the displays (and enjoyed it) if I had more time available.

Very good
By ,
they have many items on exhibit. the pirate ships and the assortment of swords impressed me. very good display, however they really need to upgrade it into an air-conditioned house and also can convert that bwee plane to much better use and finally...the walk in battle scene is very nice attempt, could use a little touch up work.

A Must see for all visitors
I loved the location and the exhibits. The tour guide was knowledgeable and showed keen interest in relating the information about the various exhibits to our tour party. The only down side was the BWIA plane. I suggest some upgrade there. All in all a wonderful way to spend a Sunday morning.

Love this museum
By ,
The exhibits were fantastic, though they needed allot of work to be restored and maintained. They have a few convincing battle scene walk-through s that could be cleaned up a bit. I love this Museum but they need dedicated volunteers, allot of study and allot of heart to help bring it back to life. The workers that are there are very helpful and friendly though I'm not to sure as to just how knowledgeable some of them are about the subject matter. I would love to see this Museum grow into something great.

excellent exhibit
By ,
Visited as part of the Know your country tour on Sat 26th April. Loved the exhibit. The tour guide did not seem to know what she was talking about. One example the pirate Ann Bonny was the mother of William Bonney AKA Billy the Kid impossible Ann Bonny was born 1700 died 1782. Billy the kid was born 1859 died 1881.There are many other examples I could list. I hate to see your wonderful museum embarrassed by lack of knowledge. Thank you
