Casa D'Oro Dining Lounge, Niagara Falls

My husband and I chose this restaurant on a whim, largely due to the charming doorman hustling clients in off the street. We were very disappointed from start to finish. The lobster and crab "special" was overcooked and inedible and the menu pasta was basically the same. The service was non-existant and, although the interior had a certain old school charm, it could certainly do with a good cleaning! If you're looking for romantic and eclectic charm, try the Beef Baron around the corner, much better service and food!

The first thing that hits you about this place is that there is a guy outside (Tiger as i understand his name to be) hustling people in. He brings you in - to line you up -- for what is pretty much the worst restaurant ride of your life. I am by all means a non-picky eater. Had a safe bell-pepper pasta -- it was like eating mushed up bread. My wife had the crab and lobster special. She loves crab - and had to turn it away it was so overcooked! The lobster was like rubber. At first I thought she was kidding until she showed me she almost couldn't cut into the lobster... wow. And the service -- well that was extra special. Talk about being made to feel like a nuisance. You would think she might at least enquire about whether there was something wrong with the plate of eaten crab and lobster... not a word... The place will definitely ruin your night as you have to pay the bill. The one good thing -- the wine list is pretty insanely large. Just do me a favor and don't eat there....

If someone asked me to give one good aspect about this restaurant it would take me days to try to imagine one up. If this is considered 'fine dining' than Swiss Chalet must be four diamond. Its places like this that are making Niagara Falls a cheap, unattractive place to visit, and as a local, it is disgusting to see places run in this way. Don't eat here, there are many other options, like McDonalds....

We visited Casa Doro with great anticipation as the locals told us that it would be a good experience. We never had a worse evening. The restaurant is dated and smells musty. The pasta was over-cooked and my husband could not eat it. We were the only couple in the place and the service was slow and non accomodating. Don't bother! Try Antica for great pizza and pasta and much better prices.
