Fine Kettle O'Fish, Niagara Falls

This place used to be a great restaurant with a fish market next door. It did change for the worse over the past couple of years. We were there about a month ago and ordered 2 piece fish & chips plus the calamari, The fish was a decent size, tasted fresh and the calamari was really great. Decided to go back today only to see a sign in the window stating that due to the poor economy the can no longer reamin open. So long fine Kettle!

From the fries to the fish completely dry and bitter tasting. The seafood salad gave me and my wife food poisoning not to mention the fat bald guy named rob who is the new owner apparently talks down to his staff like they are worthless and takes away from any dignity this place might have had left, plus all the fish appears to be haddock and the seafood is mock replaced with pollock or some other cheap clone. This business is failing, it shows in the food, to the way the staff are treated, to how much you need to pay to keep this ship of poor taste afloat, its a real shame, what a failure.

I think they really need to live in the now. Crank up some tunes, get some lively upbeat wait staff and cherish them, and gear towards a the new generation. Even change the name of the restaurant I believe the place is cursed. Start all over. When we went there it was dead I felt sorry for my waiter and left a 20 on 50 I hope he got out or things picked up for fucks sake.

We have come to the Fine Kettle 'O' Fish many times on our twice yearly visits to Niagara Falls for over seven years (often three or four times while we are in the city). In our most recent visit (the 19th of February), we were greeted with a freshly revamped restaurant. It looked wonderful, and we were excited... But then it all went downhill. All of the wonderful servers we were used to seeing at the Fine Kettle were gone, with seemingly inexperienced and disinterested replacements. Our server took four or five minutes to greet us, and at least as long to return with our drinks (and the place was by no means busy). The menu was new, but laregely the same items were on it. We ordered our old favourites, the seafood chowder, fish and chips and salmon. The chowder was tasted of flour, the haddock was a tiny piece of fish with an inch of batter on it, and the shrimp werer gray on the inside... completely dissapointing. The prices, too, have gone up. I loved the Fine Kettle, loved the staff who used to serve us and loved the food and value. But this is a different animal. Upon returning and looking at this page, we have discovered that there is new management at the Fine Kettle. I don't know why they chose to get rid of the old staff, increase prices, decrease portions and ignore standards, but the results are less than exemplary. We will never return.

nothing to dislike about this place. We have always had excellent service and great food. The manager even waited on us. He is a great guy! couldn't ask for anything better about this place. Prices were pretty fair also.

It used to be the best fish and chip place in town.Boy has it changed! They must use a straight razor to cut the fish.They downed the food and upped the price. We live around the corner,but won't be back.

Obviously under new managment our experience was terrible. We have been coming for years and we were shoked and disapointed with every aspect of our meal and experience. Service was terrible we used to love coming in and seeing the regular staff and they are all gone. When asked to speak to the manager she was very rude and un-helpful we will not return ever again.

This used to be our favourite restaurant to visit in Niagara (we are from Toronto), but it is under new management, and it certainly shows. The place, admittedly, has a nice new coat of paint. But portions are down, the price is up, service was terrible, management was rude when we did complain, and we were left with a very sour taste in our mouths. The batter on my fish and chips was almost an inch thick, and the inside of my wife's shrimp (battered and fried) were raw, while the batter was greying (cooked earlier? Rotten? not sure...) Go elsewhere.

Fresh fish, good portions and a reasonable price. We will definitely return to the Fine Kettle of Fish next time we are in town. The haddock and chips are out of this world. (Way better than Bettys).
