NY Zoo, sadly disappointing
By ,
Very small zoo, most exhibits were closed or couldn't see the animals. This zoo in not a major metro zoo like San Diego, San Francisco or Indianapolis. Very simple and small. The grounds however are beautiful and the Children's Petting Zoo was very enjoyable for my 9 and 5 year old kids. A nice place to visit, set your expectations accordingly.

awesome zoo!!!
By ,
this place is wonderful, its the perfect place to visit on a day where you jsut want to roam around central park, because it takes the perfect amount of time to go around..i live 10 minutes away from nyc and visit the CPZ pretty often, cause i love it so much..i also know this zoo pretty well, the staff is friendly, and contrary to what a reviewer said earlier, the children's zoo is NOT free, so they aren't tricking you into paying admission at all. if you want the animals to be treated well and have enough food and resources, then you have to understand that charging admission is necessary. overall, this zoo is definitely worth it, though they should add a student discount!!

waste of money
By ,
It was a great disappointment. There were so few exhibits and the animals weren't visible in several of them. They also trick you into paying the admission by putting the ticket booth by the entrance to the petting zoo that is free. There was a better selection of animals in the petting zoo. I recommend visiting the petting zoo which is right outside and visiting the restaurant and gift shop which you don't need admission for. I would have felt better if I had written a check as a donation than being charged for such a pitiful selection. What a joke. The only entertaining thing was the sea lion show which was on loan from another zoo. We saw everything in the main zoo in less than 30 minutes. There are much better zoos that have more animals and more things to do in the midwest.

Great Attraction
By ,
I thought it was great that while walking in the beautiful park there was a zoo as one of the many attractions in the park. They had the cuttest little penguin display. I loved it! Although it wasn't a huge zoo it was definitly a fun adventure

You forget you are in the middle of New York City
By ,
This place was wonderful. You totally forget that you are in the middle of New York City. A wonderful getaway for families, couples or just by yourself. Amazing facility, well kept grounds, still amazed that it is in the middle of NYC.
