I go at least once a month, I live over two hours away and I drive just to eat there. It is the best food you will ever put in your mouth. The staff are the most genuine and are great people. This is the only restaurant that knows how to cook a steak to perfection.
I personally grew up on home-cooked etouffee, which is spelled wrong in the previous comment, and the Ragin Cajun did one hell of a job cooking it! It's incredible! I've eaten my share of reptiles as well, and I can promise that the alligator is legitimate and sultry in ways that the disgruntled user, 'Breaux', clearly doesn't appreciate. Seriously, if they can't even spell etouffee, they shouldnt be rating it either. The Ragin' Cajun has awesome live piano, fun atmosphere, inviting and accomadating staff, and I'll deffinately be back and I'll bring lots of friends!
Worst cajun food we've ever had and we've had plenty. We should have known when they didn't even have Tabasco sauce. The crawfish etoufee' was terrible. It was more like a bad gumbo with too much rice, portion was small and was expected to eat it with a fork, no spoon. Etoufee' is saute'd until thick then served over steamed rice. The alligator was not alligator it was chicken. It was good but it wasn't alligator and we paid $9 for a few little bites of chicken. Fried pickles were good. Took two bites of the etouffee, took the rest home but it's going in the garbage tonight. Got a headache from the loud music and bad acoustics, couldn't wait to get out of there. If they are wanting to base their menu on cajun food they need to learn how to fix it first and maybe play a little cajun music instead of those head bangers. Won't go back.
Visited this place early today with high hopes. This could quite possibly be the worst cajun food I have ever had. I ordered Gumbo and the Red beans and Rice. The gumbo came out in a bowl but had the consistency of play-dough. It was almost as if someone had poured corn syrup over rice and microwaved it. Gumbo is supposed to be a watery soup with chunks of meat and vegetables with rice.. It supposedly was chicken gumbo-but I could not find any chicken in it. The red beans and rice came in a bowl as well and had the same taste/texture problems. Service was slow, but our waiter was friendly. The place is well decorated, but the food was expensive and terrible.
