At the end of the Lewis and Clark trail is the Coney Island of Oregon, aptly named Seaside. This tourist town, at a 90 minutes drive from Portland, is a delight for tourists. Try the saltwater taffy, cotton candy, corn dogs, penny arcades, and carousel whenever you visit. This has the beachside resort of the state. The area is especially crowded during the high season, when summer months bring inland vacationers and the Seaside Sand Sculpture Spectacular. Attractions include the Seaside Aquarium .

This was an awsome experience and I would so recommend this place to a friend or family. This trip was worth my time and I can't wait to go back!
What a total kick in the pants this place is....and changed quite a bit recently. The gilbert district is beautiful - kind of a historic vibe. The beaches around the main part of town and the turnaround tend to be more crowded, but in a good-spirited way. To get away to nature bigtime, head to the extreme northern end or the southern end, just before the "cove" area. Unbelievably beautiful and pristine beaches there.
Other things to not miss: gotta take a helicopter ride at seaside helicopters. Absolutely mind-blowing. Zinger's ice cream has homemade stuff you won't believe (try the mango...wow).
Another hint: fall is THE warmest and nicest time on the coast, all the way through to mid-oct. Just goregous.
