Oregon Dunes National Recreational Area
Miles of sand dunes provide a delightful way to play the day away. Slide down mountains of sand with bare feet and land right in the Pacific Ocean. In designated places, you can ride and jump off-road vehicles over the huge hills of sand. With beaches to walk, campfires to build, animal life to watch and pictures to capture, the memories are sure to last a long time. Enjoy romantic sunsets over the dunes and waters.
You can camp close enough so that you may walk to beaches that look as if no human has ever walked on them. We stayed in myrtle wood campground. A simple place, that does not allow "Off highway vehicles" to roam the beach. Eagles, seals, and sea lions made this beach there home and yet the beach was clean. The sand sings when you slide your feet on it...
Stay away from Reedsport the town...
It won't be hard, you could blink and miss it. As a matter of fact, there isn't much to see from Florence until Coo's Bay. Florence isn't big, but Coos Bay is a large city that reminds me of Cape Cod.
