Columbia Edgewater Country Club, Portland

The Par 3 Mason Course and Short Game practice area are tremendous. My 3 daughters and I play frequently (the post below is wrong that there are men only times) and my girls love the Junior Golf program. The course is in immaculate shape. Greens are fast and pure. Staff are friendly and unpretentious. GOLF is the focal point of CECC. Other clubs may have fancier clubhouses, but you'd be hard pressed to find a better place to feed your golf addiction than CECC.

Just in response to the review already posted, I am a member at the Club and there are no guidelines for men vs. women. It's just that one person is the primary "member." You can be a primary member and be a woman. They also did some renovations to the pool--they said they took out some trees and did some landscaping. It's a small pool but it's nice and doesn't get too crowded. They also have this Junior Clubhouse there, that has games like air hockey and Wii for the kids to play. I think they have made a lot of changes to the club to make it better for families over the last couple of years. I don't think any other course has a Par 3? that's also great for the kids. I have an 8 year old and he does the Junior Golf program in the summer and loves to play on the Par 3. We love having our family at Columbia Edgewater!

The course is beautiful like a park, the holes can be challenging. The LPGA plays here every year. Anyone thinking about joining this private country club should know that only the member has a vote. Women and children can only play the course at certain times not always when the member can play unlike many other private country clubs. Club house has very little atmosphere as it needs updating. The pool is located in a shaded area for the most part and has know privacy. Over all this is not a private county club that women and young families will benifit from belonging. There are other private country clubs in the area that women and families would enjoy. I can say this as I was once a member ~ now enjoying another private club that welcomes families and spouses. realize that the spouce does not have a say this is a male cauinatic club. Women and children can only play certain hours each day. Women and children are not allowed on the course except for desigated times. Men have a private bar no women allow. On your way to the pro shop you pass by the pool where there is no privaticy abd for the most part is a shaded area. Club house is old and needs updating has little atomphere. As for family activies theres not much. I am now enjoying another private course that is more suitable for my family.
