Description
This is just one of the 50 miles of trails in Forest Park . Home to wildflowers and 100 species of birds, it begins at the end of Northwest Thurman Street. Hikers amble past Portland's original watershed and an old stone house, part of the Balch family homestead, located about three-fourths of a mile in. The path splits here, and visitors with mobility issues will want to continue along the lower trail to the road (another quarter-mile or so), and others may take the switchback to the Wildwood Trail .
Forest Park is amazing. Old growth forest just on the edge of downtown Portland. Great hikes and a wonderful experience. Don't miss out if you are ever in Portland.
Great place for a hike or a run. Part of Forest Park. Connects to the Wildwood trail. Cool on a hot day.
It can be a little crowded, especially on nice summer days. A lot of dogs off leash, if that bothers you.
