I went here for my birthday this last Tuesday, when we got there about 5:30, there were only a few tables that had been seated. I was hoping that the reviews that I read were right. We walked in and were promptly seated by the host, our server was also right there and sat us and got us our menus. She then gave us a few minutes to look over the menu and came back over to us for our drinks, we gave her our drink orders and then ordered an appetizer of Onion Rings, the drinks came really fast and they stayed on top of the drinks all night long, our cup didn't get below half all night.
Our Appetizer then came out, nice and hot and golden homemade rings, perfectly cooked and served with a southwest remoulade. Once this was brought to the table we then ordered our main courses. I decided upon the all you can eat pasta, my room mate decided to try the 18oz T-Bone and his mom decided to get the shrimp scampi. Once we were done with the app, then out came our soup and salad, Mom and I got salad and my room mate got soup, the salads were presently nicely and the Beef Vegetable Soup was served with huge chunks of meat but the vegetables could of been a little bigger, the broth looked amazing, nice deep dark rich color.
Our entries came out, I started off with Penne Pasta with a pesto sauce, it came out hot and the sauce was great. My room mates steak came out cooked to perfection and the flavor was great too, the two sides that came with it the mash potatoes and the seasonal vegetables were spot on as well, when moms came out, it was being served with a non-traditional sauce for the shrimp. After one taste she said she was going to take it home instead, so as the server walked by I asked if we could get the shrimp redone in a traditional scampi sauce, she gladly took it back to the kitchen, it came out with new sides, perfectly cooked. I got two more bowls of pasta, I got a traditional bowl, Spaghetti and Marinara and I also tried Fettucine with a spicy Cajun sauce both were fantastic. Except for the one small problem the entries were fantastic.
We were then asked if we saved room for dessert, we had and the server told us our options, we each tried something different, Mom had a slice of cheesecake with caramel dripped over top of it, my room mate had a piece of Tiramisu, and I went with a chocolate cake that they called a Chocolate Mousse cake, the dessert were good, but being a chef I know that one of the two things either they are bought from a local company that makes dessert or they are bought from Sweet Streets, a company that makes desserts for restaurants. Don't get me wrong the desserts are worth getting but to go with the rest of the food I think they would be wise to find a Pastry Chef that could make these desserts from scratch.
All in all I would say that this is one of the best restaurants in Sedona, I have to be a little biased considering I work as a Chef in a different one. The service was great, the food was fabulous and the experience was extrodinary. As long as this place stays open, we will be back time and time again to enjoy this place.
