We have been to Tate’s restaurant couple months before. I was amazed by their service and delicious dinners. We are a big family and we love eating out, in addition we love to taste each other’s food. We were amazed by the quality of food; at that time we all decided that it was the best experience of our long lasting dining out adventure.
However, on one of our family gatherings on the 5th of December, the experience wasn’t so great. There were 8 people at our table. We were celebrating a birthday. The waitress who was helping us at the table did not smile once. She was just miserable. She seemed bothered and not helpful. When we did not get bread that we asked for, she did not apologize, but instead made excuses blaming the kitchen. We did not see her smile once that evening…
The worst experience for me was when I received Shrimp Scampi dinner and the shrimp was Rotten. The shrimp was smelly and tasted awful. I do know that seafood goes bad quickly and it is ok, but please admit it. I am a picky eater and a good cook; however I did not want to accuse the restaurant of serving bad food to me. So I asked my father-in-law to taste my food. He definitely agreed that the food was foul and that I should be returning it immediately. Literally, the shrimp smelled without even tasting it. I did return it right away.
To my surprise, NOBODY came to even apologize to me (I returned the food to the manager or the owner. She is always there). I am so insulted and hurt as they made it seem as it was my entire fault.
My conclusion is that they definitely changed their chefs. They went from somebody being absolutely awesome, to somebody very mediocre. What a shame, I thought that it was the best restaurant in New York…However, not anymore. Like always, trying to save money, charging the same…
I must be fare, since the rest of my family did enjoy their dinners. I was the only one who felt robbed…But I guess it is all it takes. However, I did not leave hungry as my family shared their dinners with me. Thank you all!!!
