The waitstaff is rude, the place is so loud I left with a headache, i felt like a was in an overpriced, overstated basketball court. Ordered the Chicken tuscana, and it was so dry and tough I think it was actually hen. Don't waste your money.
Well for starters this is coming from an old friend who went to high school with the owner and head chef, however, I wasn't too impressed with the overall first impression of the place. The sound acoustics in the place could be worked on, because it can be quite loud with even a few people in the restaurant. The server was on his own little planet, because he left us sitting there for like 20 minutes before asking us what we wanted to drink. Then the owner came out of the back to correct hostess about the tables not being turned over fast enough, but even then the owner still had to come out 5 minutes later to clear the dish filled tables himself. The dinner rolls were very hard, and could have been thrown into the micro for like 30 secs to at least give us the impression of them being fresh made. My Ceviche De Pescado did not have what the server described (white fish, shrimp and scallops, citrus juice and cilantro), nope it had frozen shrimp and way to much tomato juice! Now my fiancee's Chicken Tuscana had was too much sun dried tomatoes (all you tasted), too little goat cheese and it kind of had a sour taste to it. On a good note, my Thai Chicken was FANTASTIC!!! Overall, this establishment gives Punta Gorda a nice little urban feel, but has a few things that need to be touched up on before finding it's way back onto my menu.
Own my own place so I love to see what the compitition has to offer. Stopped by Torch Bistro last night. Place was busy, bar was full, people were happy. Sushi was very very good as was the Osso Bucco.
I was impressed that such a new place could impact Punta Gorda the way it did. I'll have to keep an eye on them.
I Found a hair in my food! I used to be a regular at Torch they do have amazing food. When you go there you will see the chefs cooking your food also you can see that none of them wear hair nets. I know were all human so most of us have hair. I found a hair in my calamari and let the server aware of it. When I received the bill I was wondering why they didn't comp the $7 appetizer. I asked to speek to the manager he came out telling me he has no idea why or how they could have got the hair in my food so they could not comp the food. So that was the last time I ever go there. They obvioulsy care about the money and not about the customer.
Went to dinner... Had the calamri and OMG!!! Had the osso bucco and OMG out of thus world! Food has love and the service isn't all that bad, we just got in the middle of busy!! prices are affordable and will be returning as always!! Highly recommend
Dining at Torch Bistro was a wonderful experience. The decor was modern yet very cosy and warm due to the beautiful lighting throughout. The food was outstanding. It was very surprising to find comfort food prepared in such a high-end manner. The prices were more than reasonable. We look forward to eating there often.
We were pleasantly surprised by the excellent food at the Torch Bistro. I wasn't sure what to expect, but we decided to give it a try based on previous reviews. The service was very good and the prices very reasonable. The waitress was attentive and pleasant. The restaurant has a modern look with glass panels showing off the kitchen area. It actually has the look of a Manhattan bistro. The menu offered items like duck, an assortment of seafood items, several steaks along with meatloaf and chicken pot pie! There are a lot of sushi items, but apparently they are only available on certain nights. I had a steak which was served medium as ordered. My wife absolutely loved the pork osso bucco. The other couple had the duck and another steak. Everything was pretty close to perfect. The only potential negative was the 3 thin asparagus spears and the table spoon of mashed potatoes. Although excellent, I would have preferred a little more. Overall, it was an unexpected and excellent dining experience.
Let me just say that Torch Bistro in Punta Gorda is the place to go if you want all around awesome food, atmosphere, and service!! I have eaten at this restaurant well over a dozen times since they have been open and have NEVER been disappointed. Anyone who says otherwise is the type of person that can't be pleased no matter what you do! For the quality of the food you get, I'd say you are getting a steal for the price you pay. If you're looking for a new restaurant to try that isn't BORING like most of the restaurants in this area, this is the restaurant for you. Now GO TO TORCH BISTRO!
Just had lunch Today with another co worker and I must say that I have neve seen a place like this in Punta Gorda. The meatloaf sandwich wash out of this world and the friend had the hawian BLT. They have this 9 grain bread that made the sandwich perfect. I was a little worried at first because when you walk in you are expecting to spend $$ because of the look and decor but boy were we wrong. The serve was very smart with the menu items and with us being a little picky he did not write down the order and everything was correct when we received lunch. My co-workers and I eat out at least three to four times a week and we dine in downtown Punta Gorda a lot for lunch but for the quality and price we look forward to our new lunch spot. I have read some of the reviews on Torch and the only person you can trust is yourself so try them out and hope you enjoy as much as we did.
