My wife is a New Yorker/pizza snob. When Annie's pizza changed hands, we were lost. Then Pasquale's opened on Wiles and 441. My wife went to try it and we love it! The best pizza we've found in south Florida. Well worth the price. ( The best ingredients; the sauce not too sweet.) Particularly on Wednesdays when a large cheese pie is only $12 and change. Varied menu.
So we ordered to pickup and come to find out, one large pizza with one topping was like $17! Pretty pricey if you ask me. Especially since I know that when I make pizza at home, the ingredients are always cheap and paying too much for some flour, yeast, cheese, tomatoes and cheese is just crazy. But anyway, we also ordered a half dozen of their bread rolls with no garlic as well.
So it came piping hot, greasy as any normal NY style pizza and the bread was nice and warm as well but a bit hard on the outside.
Overall, I really liked the flavor and fluffiness of the inside of the roll but the outside needed some improvement. Maybe make the rolls a bit bigger before cooking so that they aren't so tough. Or maybe mixing the dough less so it's not so tough (I think that's how it works: over working the dough makes it tough? Correct me if I'm wrong.).
The pizza was delicious! It has a different type of taste, I remember stating to my boyfriend that it actually had a sort of coal fired suggestion. It had a good mix of sweet sauce and an almost cheddar flavored cheese. On one half of the pizza we ordered pepperoni and sausage. The pepperoni was amazing, not too salty. But the sausage was another story...That is one of the worst sausages I've had on a pizza. It was almost like chewing on rubber and the flavor tasted like it had been sitting out for a week. It just didn't have a lot of flavor.
Some parts of the crust were either hallow from being dried out, or the crust was a bit stale and over cooked? But most of it was really good.
So other than the price, unless they get some amazing deal going on, I think we just might order again...Because even with the three dollar coupon we gave them, it came out to like $20 for a large pie and 6 bread rolls with nothing on them. I also hear they have a special on Wednesdays as well for their pizza.
