Crashboat Beach is so named because of the rescue boats that departed from this location to come to the aid of fighter planes at the former Ramey Air Force Base. Beach festivals are often held here because the beach's infrastructure includes boardwalks, barbecue pits, restaurants, playgrounds, telephones, picnic huts, showers and restrooms.
Crash Beach was wonderful! I enjoyed the crystal waters and exploring the sea floor and the strange fish I found there which I still haven't been able to idenitify. My Husband and I took our three grown children and my son's girlfriend. It was a trip of a lifetime and Crash Beach is on place I'll return when I'm in Puerto Rico again.
This is the most beautiful beach I have ever seen. I've been to Hawaii, New Zealand, Cancun, Sydney, etc. Six feet into the water and I could see my toes CLEARLY. There are little caves along the cliff and the sand is as white as the KKK. The people are friendly and as nice as they come. You will never stumble on crashboat. You have to be going there to get there. Little sidewinding roads through Aguadilla. Just follow your map. Look for the sign that says "crashboat playa" then stay on that road! It will be the most pleasant beach you've ever experienced. No waves whatsoever and water as clear as the tap. Make sure you bring your camera and say hello to the crabs that hang out on the shipwreck. One of the locals told me it happened in the 40's. He also said the beach was used during the 60's and 70's to supply the air force base with fuel and combustibles. LOVED IT
Crash Boat Beach is definitely a great and fun beach to visit. The water is clear and being that I am from the town of Moca or at least my parents are it's easily accessible. The water is clear and the people are friendly. It's a beautiful and lively beach.
On the down side, it also gets very dirty and I found myself consistently picking up other peoples garbage in an effort to avoid it going into the ocean. Boats pull up and dock off of the beach blaring there music for everyone to hear ruining a calm and enjoyable day. We all love music but it shouldn't be forced upon us and overwhelming.
Parking is insufficient but there are attendants there more than ready to shake you down for $5 so you can park. The are not employed by the beach nor the parks dept but they are merely individuals offering to watch your car for you. lol. Good one!
I would enjoy the beach much more if the users would exhibit a bit more courtesy, cleanliness and consideration.
