ZUMANITY (New York-New York)
ZUMANITY is a Cirque du Soleil production, but it is more Cirque du Sensuality than Soleil. Billing itself as "Another side of Cirque du Soleil," this New York-New York Hotel & Casino resident production makes the most of its difference from other Cirque shows. A combination burlesque/cabaret, ZUMANITY, recalls the ribald Rocky Horror Picture Show of years gone by. The flavor of ZUMANITY can best be tasted on its menu of production numbers like Body2Body, Dislocation, 2Men and Midnight Bath and Orgy. Needless to say, ZUMANITY is not a show for the little ones, but it's pure Las Vegas entertainment, with a sharp sexual edge. As part of the Cirque du Soleil international brand, all of the production values and especially the performaces and visuals are extraordinary. Audiences also enjoy the direct interaction with the cast, as is typical Cirque behavior, when the players make everyone part of the show. Contortionists, dancers, aerialists and other high flyers jam enough stunts into the 90-minute show to leave you exhausted by the time you walk out of the Zumanity Theatre.
Neither erotic nor exotic. IGNORE THE BILLBOARDS!
If you've ever been to a Rocky Horror Picture Show, this would be the hundred-dollar version. It's more comic than sensual. The orchestra was good, but nothing could make Zumanity worth 90 minutes of my time. I should have seen O.
If you like drag queens and bad humor, then you'll love Zumanity. If you like Cirque du Soleil, then go watch Mystere or Ka.
On a scale from 1 to 5: ZERO!
Zumanity was so much fun! I have to say I expected an erotic themed show to be cheesy and lame, but we had a great time and I would certainly go again.
I paid about 100 bucks each for tickets and we were right next to the stage, but the theater was small and intimate, so there's probably not a bad seat in the house.
Some of the bad reviews on here are probably from people expecting all acrobatics, or the mind blowing sets and action of Ka. Although Zumanity did have some really cool acrobatics, like the water bowl, its more of a burlesque show. The MC's were hilarious and would go out into the audience, flirting and joking with people between acts. There are some amazing acrobatic acts, some great dancing, some really funny little vignettes, and always a really fun interaction between the actors and the audience.
Zumanity is a very fun and entertaining show. I would definitely go again.
We loved the show... My wife and I went as a part of my birthday celebration. We were in the front row side balcony and could see just about everything from start to finish.
The acrobatics, contortionists and performers are awesome!
The only negatives were the drink prices. $10.50/ea. was a little outrageous.
Paid 100.00 for tickets, would have paid 500.00! It was fantastic! I was right next to the stage, very hard to see everything going on. If I were to do it again, i would have sat further back, more center.
At the end of the night, I felt very disappointed by this show. I expected a lot more out of a Las Vegas show; especially for the cost. Some of the acts were good like the waterbowl, but I felt most of the show was too much like a high school talent show without the talent. I had heard good things about Cirque Du Soleil, but this show was nowhere near the hype. There was not enough acrobatics, which I expected to be a major part of the show.
My girl friend and I attended the show on July 11, 2006.
I wasn't blown away with this show. It was a lot like the Rocky Horror Picture show in the 80's. Although some parts were funny and even entertaining, I was bored with other parts that seemed to keep reoccurring "i.e.: the oversize lady's". The actors and performers are really talented but I just didn't think the show was worth the ticket price. I will stick with the other cirque-du-soleil shows in the future. Had a great time in Las Vegas!
The others who've posted great reviews of this must have seen a different show than what I went to.
All I can say is that the marketing people put out some great ads and hype for Zumanity. Unfortunately, the show comes nowhere near my expectations. What a total waste of my time and money. I've seen many Vegas shows but I would not see this again even if it was free.
The show has some great talent. If Cirque du Soleil would figure out how to put that to good use they'd really have something. For a great Cirque du Soleil show go see Mystere.
I had no idea of what this show was going to be about. This was a treat from a good friend. All I was told was it was the Art Of Sex/Sexuality. I enjoyed the short stories and the humur of the history about sex. I especially enjoyed the fact they they included the audiance. The big fish bowel preformance was beautiful. I enjoyed this show so much I told all my co worker, they had to see it when they visit Vegas. Its been 18 months and I can still see the show in my head...WONDERFUL...BEAUTIFUL...
I would absolutely reccommend this show to anyone who is looking for something different. It is sister to Cirque De Soleil but only for adults! This show is so amazing. It is erotic and artistic. Best show I have seen yet in Las Vegas. I am so glad I decided to go, Ive been telling everyone about it.
Go see it!
This is the only Cirque show I've been able to go to, but it blew my mind. Zumanity is the burlesque/erotic themed show. They start the show before the show even starts. The hostesses are dressed in little black dresses with thong-clad bodies airbrushed on them. The MC comes out to warm up the audience while the house is still filling. The night I went, strawberries were given to many people.
The actual show is great. Top notch production values, good flow, great variety, endless eye candy. I can't put into words the things that I saw. Just amazing, overall. I'd love to go again some day.
