Me on the Square, Mountain Home

This place has been closed for some time. I hear it was pretty good.

What a wonderful treat to dine at Me on the Square last evening with a group for a birthday. Special requests were honored by the chef and staff. We were as always treated wonderfully and enjoyed our evening and food so much. The place was packed with date nighters and at least 3 large party tables. Our service was timely and food was hot. The staff works cohesively and seamless. It's a pleasure to have such an establishment in Mtn. Home.

The service was terrible. The waiter simply ignored the fact that the steaks were ALL room temperature when they arrived. We told him twice, and he simply chose to pretend that he either didn't hear or changed the topic to ask us if our water was ok? The food was good, but not fantastic. The dessert was delicious. The price was obscene, given the quality of the food and service. We paid nearly $200 for 5 people, and could have received better service by a teen at any of the local chains. The entire place was empy when we arrived and they made us wait for a table anyway, given that we did not have reservations. When we WERE seated, we were given a booth and had to have a chair at the end of the booth for the 5th person. Despite this, many tables remained empty throughout our meal, so perhaps I do not understand the difficulty involved in seating customers to an open house. Either way, none of those that attended dinner tonight will be returning....ever. This was one of the worst dinner experiences I've ever been priviledged to. The atmosphere was fantastic, but did not make up for the overall lack of service and poor steaks.

It was a great evening. Dinner for four with reservations at 5:30. We were seated within 1 minute of entering. The service was outstanding as was the food. The salads were on time and the water glasses were refilled before they were half empty. The bread and butter tray was refilled without asking. The noise level allowed conversations without straining. I would recommend this place for your special night out.

We had a reservation on Saturday night, arrived and there were 3 tables open with only one couple ahead of us. We ended up having to wait 20 minutes to be seated in one of the three places that were empty (and remained empty) when we walked in. Service in general was pretty horrible. Server only came to check on us every 20 minutes or more. Glasses kept going empty with no one to fill them. We did not get our salads until 10 minutes before our food came out. Food was pretty good, which is the only reason it's getting the 3 stars.
