Hands down, the worst dining experience in Venice
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/21/07
The reason we reserved dinner for four (two couples) was because a friend highly recommended this restaurant as one of her favorites in Venice. Unfortunately, there was nothing we liked about this restaurant. From the moment we sat down, we were treated with such disregard that, prior to ordering our meal, I suggested twice to my dining companions to pay for the wine and walk out. Just a few examples: the waiter had a real issue interpreting some of the dishes on the menu; we could not order several of the appetizers unless all four of us had the same thing; we were advised by the same rude waiter that we had to order two courses each and had to place our order at once with no opportunity to review the menu. Moreover, the waiter had the gull to criticize several of our choices as something that we should not order while dining in Venice. One wonders why these choices were on the menu in the first place. Less than a month after our experience, I can barely recall what we ate. I only remember that my grilled calamari were not cleaned of their intestinal contents and I left the entire meal on my plate. A punch line was that we were charged eight (8) Euro coperto (bread charge) and 12% servicio was added to our bill. A very terrible and expensive dining experience. I must add that we have not experienced such poor service in any other restaurant during this trip to Italy or any other trips we have taken abroad.
