Loved the Play - Way too Much Singing!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/21/09
Went to the Christmas Carole Play - Mid December. Loved the play but it was about an hour too long - the singing could have been cut down considerably. Will try it again as this was my first time here!

Had fun...can't wait to see what they do next!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/09/09
Ignore the bad review that is posted on here!! My friend and I went to see a show called "The Little Hut". It was a whole lot of fun! The actors were funny and I can't believe that anyone would give this place a bad review...and to contribute the postings on here to the actors? This is a good place and fun, small and intimate theater... it was money well spent...much better to see people putting this kind of heart into something then it is to pay a small fortune to go see a movie where the actors are paid millions and still suck!! It was a really good experience!

If you have nothing better to do
By Annie, 03/12/09
I wonder if 4/5 of the other reviews were written by Riverfront Playhouse actors, because the are really overstating how "great" this place is. It is quite inexpensive, and parking in downtown Aurora is hardly ever a hassle...if you can't come up with something better to do, and like seeing the same handful of people performing in show after show after show, then I guess this place is as good as any to waste a couple hours.

Aurora's well kept secret super entertainment!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/18/08
This eclectic theater and dedicated and most talented cast created a memorable experience for myself and my 11 year old sister. Warm and inviting the people are charming and the play, Night of the Loving Dead was awesome! I want to go back and see it again! Keep up the good work!

Great atmosphere
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/22/08
This place was awesome! My husband and I went on April 18th to see the production of "Closer". When we walked through the door it felt like no other theatre I've been to. Greeted at the front desk by smiles and chatter, the two ladies taking the money made us feel like old friends. The show was fantastic. These people do theatre for the love of it.. not to get paid. They are regular people with regular jobs and families and yet they made us feel like we were seeing a "paid-professional" show. Candy bars and libation (drinks) are available for $1 (!) donation. Shows are on Friday and Saturday nights. Tickets are $15 and $12 for students and seniors. If you're in Aurora and they have a show going on make the time to visit!!!

All this for $15??
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/17/07
We were in town visiting friends a couple of months ago. It was our good fortune that they had planned an evening at the Riverfront Playhouse to see "Night of Th Living Dead, The Musical", an original production written by one of the Playhouse regulars. If this production was any indication of the quality of their shows, then this is a "can't miss" gem hidden in downtown Aurora. The playhouse itself and box office area looks a little like your favorite Grandmother's apartment, filled with niknaks, and odds and ends of who knows what from who knows where. It seats around 80 people and has a very cozy atmosphere. I highly recommend this little theatre. It is truly the most unique, and one of the finest of the many community theatres I've had the pleasure of patronizing over the years.

It ain't Broadway but it's only 1/2 block away.....
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/06/07
You have to see it to believe it. Could be the best $15.00 you'll spend or the worst. Yes, it is sometimes a little over the top but that is one of the things that makes it so much fun! Many of the shows sell out, oftem because it's just not that big of a place but it is full of charm. Need something to drink or munch on don't worry, a small variaty of items is 'available' on site. Eat first, however.

Great fun - Great Price
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/20/07
If you are looking for great entertainment at a great price, free parking and near by, you have to visit the River Front Playhouse. Located in Downtown Aurora, IL, with easy free parking, near the Casino, and good food near by. If you like LIVE Theatre, you MUST visit this one. The performances are great, the actors well seasoned, never over the top, professionals who aren't being paid for acting.' They truely love their craft and show it, in every performance. Don't worry about opening night, every night is great. Small, intimate setting, with more character than you can absorb in one visit. This is a real repeat theatre.
