Excellent... but NOT for young kids!
By Mom194387, 7/25/10
I did this tour with my 6 year old last night and during the tour, she loved it and so did I! I kept asking if it was too scary for her but she said she was fine. The tour guide is amazing. His stories are thorough, interesting, and quite scary. The tour guide really gives you some gory details about how some of these ghosts met their demise... and it ain't pretty! He keeps your attention for the full 1.5 hrs. Of course, once we got home, she had nightmares and ended up sleeping with us for the night. I should have been more vigilant about leaving the tour, like another family with young kids. Nonetheless, this really is a GREAT tour but not for kids under at least 10 or 12 years old.

great family adventure
By PAMELA MARSHALL, 6/19/11
We loved it! Our guide was a wonderful gentleman. He spoke loudly and clearly. Gave a lot of historical facts. It was so much fun. My 10 year old grandson enjoyed it as much as his grandfather. Great fun for the entire family.

Great tour!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/21/09
We went on this tour tonight and we enjoyed it. Our tour guide kept things interesting and provided a lot of historical information that even we didn' t know after living in Frederick for almost 10 years. This tour is also kid friendly. We took our 7, 9 and 13 year old and they had a blast! The only thing that would make this tour fantastic is if you could go in to some of the buildings. Recommend it!

Not that creepy, but overall good
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/21/07
The tour was good, but more historical than creepy. A large group of people accumulated outside of the Brewer's Ally restaurant around 7:15, and we were ultimately split into a few separate groups with individual tour guides. Each group consisted of about 40 people and 1 tour guide. The tour covered about 7/8 "haunted" sites and lasted about an hour and a half. Overall, I was impressed with the presentation and atmosphere. (The guide was dressed in period attire and downtown Frederick is very charming). It was sometimes hard to get really into the stories however, due to the fact that most of the sites were off of busy streets and were very well lit by traffic and street lights. It really wasn't very scary at all. But, if you're interested in history and the softer side of ghost stories, and want something fun and festive to do that is appropriate for young children, this is the event for you. Parking can at times be difficult, but downtown Frederick is never short on fun things to do. So, before or after the tour, your choice of restaurants is endless!
