Weequahic Park Golf Course, Newark

The course is well maintained. If you are a beginner and it is Saturday afternoon, do not visit this course. The players are impatient. Some were whistling loudly as if at a football game to distract me and my son while we were playing if they deemed us not moving quickly through the various holes. We allowed a number of players to play through, however this did become unpleasant. I have played at both private and public courses in the past, however never met this type of reception. Beware, golf bullies present. One Ranger had joined the pack. I paid for nine holes and played the nine holes despite their harassment. Unsophisticated!!!!

This course was a real pleasant surprise. I wasn't expecting much based on what others have said about the course, but it was in very good condition for a public course. The greens were in great shape and pretty challenging with a nice design. I would definitely recommend it, especially if you are looking to play a round in under 4 hours.

This is by far the best course out of the three Essex County Courses. The staff is very nice and helpful. The people who use the course have also been very friendly and very helpful. What i like the most about this course is the ease of play and the ability to be able to go out without having to wait for 2 hours to tee off. They maintain a very good flow so the players are not all bunched up together on each hole. I love this course. I am able to get out more often which helps me alot with my practice.

Called before going and was quoted a relatively cheap price (which made sense given the course quality). When I got there they charged me double the original quote. Also, the clubhouse (if you can call it that) people were rude. The guy I was paired with was nice though. Putting all that aside, the course was in pretty bad shape and the greens are unputtable.

Often people think of Newark and say "that course is in Newark it can't be good" but this course is much more fun to play and more intresting to say the least than any of the other essex county courses. The people who work in the clubhouse are much nicer and conduct a fine opperation. Weequahic is the best course by far of the essex county courses.

It is a great course to play, it is in good shape. It takes appox. 4-5 hours to play. It is narrow so a player is forced to hit straight and some of the greens are small, so a player has to be accurate when pitching up. I play here quite often and find the other golfers pleasant and polite.
