rustic and beautiful
By ,
We had a family reunion at the park and really enjoyed our stay. May parents and sibling stayed in a delux cabin. It had everything you need with a very funky 70's style. My husband and I camped in the campground. It had a nice clean bathhouse but strangely, it was always closed for cleaning for an hour in the morning when everyone wanted to use it! The trails around the campground were nice but we didn't get all the way down to the lake as the poison ivy became too thick. We saw deer and raccoon from our site and enjoyed listening to the train, off in the distance, every night. The park has a huge pool with two very springy diving boards that my 7 year old loved. You aren't allowed to bring anything to eat or drink into the pool area (even though there is a grassy area) and there are no trees or umbrellas so the sun can become oppressive. My only real complaint is that the park is big on rules...not just the pool...but also the campground. The kids were not allowed to ride their scooters and the helmet law is strictly enforced. Other than that, it's a lovely, inexpensive, rustic retreat.

A great experience!
By ,
My husband and I were relocating and trying to find a place to live. We decided to spend that week at Norris Dam State Park. We stayed in one of their rustic cabins. The cabin it self was clean, and well kept up. It had the rustic feel with all the neccesary amenities we have all grown use to. It was a great place to come home to and relax after a busy day. We enjoyed hiking on the many trails as well as, sitting on the swing in our screened-in porch watching all the deer and othe wildlife walk freely throughout the campsite. We have made plans to spend the weekend there again.

I love every visit I make to Norris Dam State Park.
By ,
Nature lovers will have a great time at Norris Dam state park. The whole experience is a treat from start to finish. The overlooks on each side of the dam offer breathtaking views of the river valley below. Several walking trails are available in the park, my favorite being the Songbird trail, the lakeside trail, and the loop that circles one side of the orchard below the dam. In my opinion the whole park is a must see, but be sure stop by the Lenoir Museum, the Grist mill, and the threshing barn, all are located close to eachother on Norris Freeway and all offer free admission. The park has the feel of being hundreds of miles away from the noise and rush of the city, but is conviently just a short drive from several restaurants and gas stations. I visit Norris Dam state park about once a month, sometimes twice. Anytime is a good time to visit Norris Dam. I hope you find my review helpful and I hope you have a great time at Norris Dam, I always have.
