Wonderful Young Course
The Vista Links, in Buena Vista, Virginia, was official opened in August of 2004, so it is very young as far as golf courses go. It is an 18 hole, par 72, designed by Rick Jacobson. There are five tee boxes with yardage ranging from 4,941 to 6,925. The course has a traditional set up with 4 par threes, 4 par fives and 10 par fours. The prices are very, very reasonable and tee times aren't too hard to come by.
There are several bunkers to be aware of through out the course. Only one hole has a water hazzard, and that is the par 5 16th, which is 522 yards from the back tees. One of the most challenging holes is the par 3 13th. It's only 152 yards but with the elevation change, you feel as if you are standing right over the hole.
The most noticable thing about the Vista Links is the panoramic views of the blue ridge mountains. The clubhouse sits on the highest part of the property and from there you can see nearly 75% of the course. This is already a great course and will only get better with age. The location is wonderful, the course being located just 3 miles east of Interstate 81. If you are ever in the area, it would be well worth your time to check out this course.
