The Getty Center
The Getty Center is a museum you can't miss. With lofty skylights and original architecture, it is one of the best museums in Los Angeles. The center stores a multitude of art, sculpture and photographs from Europe and America. You can also check out old manuscripts and decorative arts here. Highlights of the year consist of Italian manuscripts from the Middle Ages and Renaissance, Rembrandt's Late Religious Portraits and Shrine and Shroud: Textiles in Illuminated Manuscripts, to name a few. Set aside a day for this museum, its Central Gardens and popular restaurant are sure to leave you breathless with their beauty. Check website for details.
I've been there for a couple of times before. And I took my family to LA for holiday and visited Getty Museum again. My family enjoyed the stay there. Great exhibitions, great atmosphere, and great view of LA! Highly reccommend this place!
A marvel in architecture. Even if your not into art, there's plenty so see and experience. On a clear day, the view is phenomenal. The garden is always an oasis you could spend hours in.
And parking is reasonably priced and usually includes admission to the museum. You'll have no trouble finding a space as there are at least 4 levels underground parking.
It is so hard to find a parking there over the weekend. We spend almost 30 mins to find a parking but we just spent 1 hour to finish the visit. The food in the cafe are expensive and not too many choices to choose from.
The Getty Museum of Los Angeles, CA is one of the most magnificant art collections in the world. Not only do they have beautiful art but the architecture is fantastic & the view of Los Angeles is breath taking.
The Getty is one of a kind... Amazing landscaping, beautiful gardens. The location alone is so unusual, it's nestled W-A-Y up on a hill, it offers panoramic 360 degree views of my own Los Angeles. The artwork? Some of the best examples in the world! And they are so beautifully highlighted. Parking is a breeze, handicapped no problem at all. And they have a great little cafe on site with a thoughtful, delicous menu. If you're lucky, while eating you will hear a live string quartet!
The Getty has wonderful exhibits and beautiful artworks. It is great place to go and walk outside with a wonderful garden and great views of the Los Angeles area. It is a great place to visit any season, with the exception of the few rainy days since you don't want to miss the outside gardens.
For the novice or connossieur, the Getty offers the widest scope of art available to the public for free. Your palette is whetted by the experience whether you wanted to go or were dragged along. Your opinions on art are changed forever as you gaze at portraits done by Degas, Rembrandt, and other famous masters.
The winding walkways, small alcoves, make this an intimate experience. It is definitely worth visiting again and again.
