Sean Thongsiri developed his culinary expertise humbly by cooking alongside his mother and grandmother at him in Vientiane, Laos. He filled in the rest of his culinary well by trial and error, whipping up both traditional and improvised dishes. It was also in the town's markets that he formed strong relationships with the local farmers, fishermen, and merchants to give his family the finest, highest-quality ingredients.
