My family loves to go to Mexican restaurants when we get out of our town that has none. I was excited to try this one but the food was bad. It was dry and had little flavor. Even the salsa just tasted like pureed tomatoes with a dash of hot flavor. My daughter ordered beef tips. There were about five nickel size pieces of meat on her plate. I ordered a combo plate. The ground beef tasted kind of funny and there was very little sauce or cheese to blend with it. My meal was probably $8 and change for something that looked like a $2 value. The atmosphere was definitely decorated a lot but kind of tacky. I will not go back.
We were recently on vacation in Gaylord and asked where a good mexican restaurant might be and El Rancho was recommended. We are from Texas and didn't really expect much way up there but WOW was it good. We eat at mexican restaurants at least once a week at home and I would rate this at the top of the list. The food is great, the menu extensive, the atmosphere is really pretty and the service is top notch. Highly recommend this place to anyone.
i love el rancho's , my mom and i ususally stop there before bingo and have a margarita, and usually we have as my mom calls him : shorty . his name is rafael, not sure i spelled it right . but he is great , and all are very friendly , so keep up the great work guys ..
Fantastic food, quick, great ambiance, meticulously clean, did I mention fantastic food!! Love this place and they have something on their menu to satisfy everyone, from meat to vegetarian... What a fabulous place for a meal!
I was visiting Gaylord for military training nearby. Fortunately i was staying next door to El Rancho! I've eaten close to 20 meals there and have yet to have a bad one. I will say that the highlight was the Pollo Supremo? I think thats how it was spelled! Anyway, growing up in a Mexican family I've tasted and have seen about all you can. I give this place a strong 4.
EXCELLENT! This was about the only place open for dinner in Gaylord on July 4th, and I'm so glad it was! I've been to a lot of great Mexican restaurants, and this was one of the best! The service was prompt, the place was clean, and the food was very good!
Before you pull into the parking lot, instead head east on Main St. over to LaSenorita! Trying to figure out how El Rancho's extensive take out menu works is confusing, especially when hungry! Imagine craving mexican food only to open your take out container to smell the overwhelming smell of nutmeg! I am not a mexican chef, but I have never had beef tacos with nutmeg. We ordered 2 of the dinner combos to go, the take out waitress on the phone told me our dinners didn't come with guacamole (which we don't like), only to find later our dinners were covered in it. But it didn't matter, because the thought of eating a nutmeg taco made my stomach queasy. It was so intense my husband who eats anything wouldn't even touch it... I had to throw it in the trash and take it outside!! The only edible thing was the spanish rice which was really bland.
