Mezza Middle Eastern Cuisine
In 1980, during the Civil War in Beirut, Lebanon, a young Vivian Semaan and her family escaped to the U.S., leaving behind a country and people they loved. The family maintained their culture and traditions, and Vivian grew up observing the vibrant Lebanese customs. Sheac2s watched and learned as her mother and grandmother prepared traditional Middle Eastern cuisine from time-honored recipes, which were then handed down to Vivian. The Lebanese culture is passionate, full of love and respect, and delights in entertaining. These qualities have been the way Vivian has lived her life since childhood. Vivian continued in the tradition of her family, cooking delicious and healthy Middle Eastern meals for her own family and friends. At their urging, she decided to share her familyac2s recipes and the Lebanese tradition of hospitality with the community by opening Mezza Middle Eastern Cuisine. Mezza means acoeappetizerac in Arabic, but the menu at Mezza goes far beyond appetizers. With her mother by her side, Vivian carefully prepares authentic Middle Eastern entrees and desserts using the finest ingredients and a delicate blend of aromatic spices unique to the regionac2s cuisine. We love the hot, fresh pita and pretty much everything on the menu! I appreciate the family-friendly vibe, and that we don't have to stand in a huge line (if you're from Portland, you know who I'm talking about here).
Food was good. Good vegetarian kibbeh and grape leaves. The only issue I had was we were using a restaurant.com gift certificate and they tried to sneak the automatic gratuity into our total. When asked about it, he acted like he didn't know. We were already going to tip him more than he had added, but after we saw what they were up to, we decided not to. Just be honest...we would've given a greater tip if they were up front about it.
I like it, totally enjoyed the fresh pita and smell of the herbs walking through the door was mouth watering . Fresh prepared food , excellent kabobs, very tender and juicy, The falafel was very fresh and excellent as well.
