Vernisage deserves the highest of accolades, we really loved this place. Upon arriving we met one of he owners, her husband & their son. They were all very welcoming & they certainly made us feel like we were a part of the family from start to finish. I bought a Groupon & decided to surprise my husband for Father s Day, what a nice surprise for both of us. This was hands down, one of best meals of my life, no exaggeration, it was that good! The food was extraordinary, every single bite was superb. We were so impressed. Ask for recommendations if you are unsure, they do a fantastic job! (thanks Sergei)
The pickled vegetables were so good. The Pelmeni (dumplings) were absolutely marvelous as well as the borsch. Their soups are really delicious, I wished I could have tried each & everyone. My husband got the Chicken Kiev, wish he loved & I got one of the fresh white fish entrees. I can t recall exactly what my dish was called but it was was astounding nevertheless. (it sounds just like the dish that Padraic, reviewer here from 5/28/12, ordered) By all means you must try the vodka!!! I would go back for the pickles & vodka alone. Also, Baltika #9 is a great Russian Beer if you like the stronger, darker varieties. My husband had the Baltika #1 & it was pretty good but I prefer #9 but that s just me. Everything about Vernisage was unparallelled, what a fantastic day.
The decor was very nice & the ambiance was very romanti, they put a lot of thought & effort into making it a very, very special place. If you want a wonderful meal, impeccable service along w/ visual delights then this is your place. Bol shoe spasibo Vernisage. You have inspired us to visit St. Petersburg & for that I am very grateful. We will definitely return.
A little less than a month ago, I spent a week in Kherson, Ukraine as part of a yearly trip. I have been pining ever since for a taste of Ukraine. After reading the review today, I had to try it out.
I arrived a little late for lunch (about 1:45) and was greeted warmly by the owners. While I browsed the lunch menu and tried to decide between the pelmeni and the vareniki (the borscht made the first course decision an instant one), we had a wonderful conversation about the establishment. Over a wonderfully rich bowl of Ukrainian borscht, we chatted about Kyiv. I had just visited and the owners were returning for a visit after decades away.
There was less conversation when the pelmeni arrived. They were too good for me to do much more than enjoy in satisfied silence.
I don't know how I have missed knowing Vernisage was in the neighborhood I work in. But one thing is absolutely certain - I plan to become a regular.
Food in the restaurant tolerable, and be prepared to what's in your food can get the stones, or any others not edible items which can be broken or lost teeth health.
What the Administration and the owners of restaurant can tell that you've done this on purpose. Not when it is not seen in this restaurant a boorish attitude towards visitors.
The only thing that good musicians.
If you want to spoil the evening, and long remember this - go to a restaurant VERNISSAGE
It was my 30th birthday and I invited all my friend from NYC and PA. They drove down to drink, eat and dance. I rented out the entire restaurant. The owners of Vernisage went above and beyond for me, my family and friends.
They created beautiful floral arrangements on each table and had a great set up for dancing. The dessert station was unbelievable and extremely delicious. Reminded me of the various desserts made in the Brighton bakeries.
Overall my friends were totally impressed and wanted to come back.....
