I traveled to Hearst Castle and was disappointed because I had heard so much about the beautiful art works and when I got there it was under reconstruction and I couldnt get to see a lot of the art.
Its not fun to hear about a piece of art and have someone say oh sorry its not available to see. We have to have you come back!
I think a lot of the stuff was junk anyways...
The swimming pool was beautiful but you couldnt touch anything. It was all for the Hearst foundation.
I think next time I will go to a big hotel with a pool, the park or swim club Its not fun to see all the glitzy rich stuff..... and not have stuff of your own The hotels in the area are small and stufy
This is my first time to see Hearst Castle. Actually, I expected to see more for the price we paid to enter the place ($24.00).
We got to Hearst Castle and only stayed there for about 2-3 hrs.
There's a gift shop and ticket area on the bottom of the hill and they have a guided bus tour that would take us about 10-15 minutes to get on top to see Hearst Castle.
We came as a group tour and didn't really get a chance to watch the movie that the others mentioned about.
There weren't a lot of places that they took us. A couple of rooms and it seems ordinary to me, maybe because I've been to lots of museums and mansions.
Overall, the guide provided a lot of good information about the owners of Hearst Castle and the way they lived. The garden and buildings are beautiful.
Hearst Castle is a landmark and must be seen...but for the price I would have wanted to see more of the castle. The tour guides are alright and give you a good sense of the place.
A must is seeing the National Geographic movie about the building of the castle which we found very interesting.
Awe inspirations; what matter of man would build a small city such as this to his family
and wives. Who was Rosebud; its been a secret for years. Rosey and Buddy; his labordor retreivers (red) he had a chair carved with their heads as sculptured hand rests; opps I let the secret out. The chair was given to a Banker Buddy in Olympia, Washington; let me see; uh-oh; Mr. Carlton Sears; a Real Estate Magnet in his own right and an owner of Thurston County Federal Savings and Loan; I believe a 33rd degree Mason; where William got his property portfolio on Great Property Deals. These two men were always trading back and forth antiques, cannons, chip n' dale and coins. Mr Sears had a key to 750 Hearst Castle Road. Last offer on the chair was in the 3.5 range and it was turned down.
The overall splender of 750 castle; is what this great country can do for its up and coming Rich; Nob Hill; Rancho Mirage, The Hamptons, Martha's Vineyard, Dullyies of Dallas, Napa Valley and the Great Chehalis Valley; all rich with heritage and takes
mucho molah to buy the dirt that represents; the best of the best of the best; money can buy.
I hear the Customer Service wasnt good but they have changed that problem; its much better and the Team is working to enhance their image into what Mr. Hearst would expect if he were alive today. I mean what would Cali be without the Hearst Family here to entertain us. Thank you for all the wonderful comments and if you'd like a very expensive chair; Thank you dave
My husband and I took my girls and their husbands and Grandchildren on a the Private tour. It was so awesome. We were able to drive our own cars up to the Castle and we had a 4 hour tour of anywhere we wanted to go. We saw places that the tours do not take you. Our tour guide Beth was the Best. I recommend this for everyone.
This is my first time to write a review. I am very disappointed with their service. I reserved 4 tickets online this morning. I picked the wrong day, so I called them to change to the correct day within one hour. A guy picked up the phone and told me that there is a $3.5 fee per person for exchange the time. I tried to tell him that I clicked the wrong day just 30 minutes ago. He told me that this is their policy. This is ok with me because this is their policy. He asked me for the confirmation #, which I gave him. He said that I talked too fast that he couldn't catch up with me. He's voice was loud and rude. So I repeated few times, finally he pulled up my information. I told him that I want to change to the day to Nov 16th, and I asked him for the time available. He put me on hold for a while and came back with problem with the system. He said that I need to wait for his supervisor is available. I tried to asked him how long do I have to wait on phone, because I was at my office. He used his rudeness voice said I had no choice, this is the only way I can change my time. He came back after a while. He told me the schedule was available. I told him that I would like to take 10:20 tour. He repeat my schedule again but without mention the day. I was afraid that he didn't change the day but only the time of the tour, because I don't want to pay $14 again. I tried to tell him that we would like to change the day to Nov 16th. He told me that I talked too fast again and couldn't catch up with me. ??...and he mentioned about orange and apple...but I just want to have the correct time and day. After 30 minutes of the process, he asked me for my credit card. I told him that I didn't have it with me. I thought that they should have my record. I just want to change the time and day... I have no choice, so I hang up the phone after 30 minutes of struggling. Me and my husband love Hearst Castle. This will be our 3rd times visit, but this is our first time buying tickets ourself. We booked hotel package with Hearst Castle tour last two times. I think this is most terrible customer services that I have ever had before.
