Lyman Harbor

Description

Lyman Harbor is a huge entertainment complex that houses brilliant marina facilities along with shops, restaurants and concerts-venue for a complete fun experience. Lyman Harbor, a former venue for boat works, encompasses an air of history lingering around that area with much presence even today. There are some structures here, originally built during the 1930s, that still stand strong, delivering a welcoming statement to the boat owners. It's a great place to enjoy by the bay.

What an awful experience!
By sandusky boater, 7/21/11
We live in the area and decided to take the boats over to Lymans for dinner. We had 6 adults and 6 (older) children. 3 adults ordered the Lyman Ultimate burger, described on the menu to be this fantastic Lyman icon. The server came back and said none of the cooks had ever made one and none of the servers had ever sold one. So, turned out just to be a over cooked $17 hamburger with no toppings. Wow. I got a philly steak sandwich with about 2 ounces of meat and no mushrooms although the menu said it had mushrooms. There were SIX fries on my plate. One of our party never received their food at all, ever. We still had to ask for it to be taken off the check, as they billed us for it. I ordered a Great Lakes beer 3 times, got 3 different beers, none of them Great Lakes. The band didn't show up, the bathroom was a mess. We contacted the manager 6 days ago and have never heard back. Stay away and save the money. Try Water Street Grill instead. How disappointing this was. Oh, and our server told us it was his last night and we were his last table so he didnt really care anyway. Nice.

What seafood buffet????
By Patchez, 10/12/09
I bought a certificate for this restaurant and noticed on their website they had a "seafood & pasta buffet". We drove 45 minutes to experience this "buffet" and were quite disappointed. Don't get me wrong, the complex was very nice inside including the restaurant but when we went up to to the so-called buffet, there were a total of 5 different items on the table! They offered pasta noodles and spaghetti (# 1), # 2 had 2 different sauces, # 3 offered some type of overcooked cheesy lasagna thing with traces of some type of crab, # 4 had a combination of clams/mussels which were overcooked or sitting on the burner too long because the mussels were all shriveled up, and lo and behold - # 5 - King crab legs! THAT WAS IT! I guess I thought there would have been a couple more seafood choices. The King Crab legs were pretty good - that was the highlight of the "buffet". Pretty sad if you ask me. We came to the conclusion that a 45 minute ride is not worth this buffet or lack thereof!

This place is great!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/5/09
We went to the waterfront restaurant last weekend. The food was great. Huge portions and an awsome view of cedar point across the bay. The new bar / pub is also great.

Pleasantly surprized
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/30/09
I recently visited Lyman Harbor since it's under new management. What a pleasant surprize. Food was great...so was the atmosphere. It's especially fun if you have any history with owning a Lyman. Photos everywhere!

Great Wedding!`
By C, 4/6/09
I was here for a wedding over the weekend and the place has a lot of construction going on. The bar looks like it's going to be really nice and the wedding atmosphere is absolutely beautiful.

DINING AT LYMON HARBOR
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/4/08
Ok, Ive eaten out at alot of places across the country in my 50 years. Now I'm writing this review from an experience I had early summer of 2008. My Wife and I went in, and the first thing we noticed was that we didnt even think it was open. It seems that the "Front Door" is at the far end of the dining area. We wandered down halls looking, following voices, and clinking glasses, until we "found" the dining area. It appeared to look like a nice place, but very dead....not much more than the staff, and a few customers. We were seated out on the patio with one other couple that appeared to be finished eating. I guess they forgot about us, because even with no customers it took 10 minutes before anyone even came to take our drink order. Finally I got up and went into to ask if we had a waitress, and the bartender motioned to a young lady sitting alone at the end of the bar, and she finally came out. Both of our dinners were cold, and my wife's was burned. We complained but it took foirever for the same waitress to come back to check on us, we finally asked to see a manager, and were told the owner was in his office, and she would get him. He never came....we nasked again, and she said he said ask us what we wanted. I asked for a reduction on my bill as was told the best they would do is give me 10% off my drinks. We have never had such poor Service, Food, all followed up with a kick in the pants on our way out. We personally will never go back there, and its a shame we liked the atmosphere, and its right down the road from us. We feel it would make a great place if they fixed a few problems, and seemed to care more about how the treat customers. Now its possible this was an off night, or that they replaced a few employees, but for the OWNER to snub us by not coming out , then telling the waitress to give us 10% off our drinks....we each had one glass of wine by the way, so we had a grand total of $2 taken off our bill . Ive been a manager in the restaurant business for 25 years, and have gone out of my way to make sure a customer felt like they were taken care of, satisfied, and left with the feeling that they would return. They seemed to pack them in later in 08, so I hope they fixed the problems, but I wont be back after that treatment....and like I said....its a shame, cause its right down the street. chance025@hotmail.com

No service!
By Holly, 4/1/08
On Saterday March 29th 2008, six of us tried to eat here. It was pretty late in the evening, so there wasn't a whole lot of other customers. We were greeted upon arriving, and were told how this place was rated #2. As the lady took us to our seats, she looked to a group of waiters and said "I have a table of 6 for someone". Twenty minutes later still no waiter! We walked out and no one even noticed. I was sooo not impressed.
