Camille's Sidewalk Cafe, Arlington

Friendly staff, Large Portions, Los of choices that they are happy to customize, wonderful decor, Free WiFi and an easy to get to location make this location a regular choice for me and many of my friends. Even has clean bathrooms!

I had never heard of a place named Camille's and I was intrigued when I heard of one coming up in the area. My initial reaction when I walked into the restaurant was, "Wow, this is different.." I scanned the menu for dishes that I would like and I found that their selection was vast, creative and succulent to my taste-buds. I would highly recommend Camille's Sidewalk Cafe @ Arlington to anyone who wants to try something worth-while. The atmosphere is great, with WiFi technology & the newspaper. The service was exceptional, and did I mention the smoothies? They have a huge variety of smoothies, including some of my favorites (strawberry and blueberry). Although the food seems pricey, compared to other restaurants...you are getting more for your money here. The atmosphere, service, food, and overall impression is great. I've been there a few times and I enjoy it each and every time.

I visited the location in the District but because this is a franchise I assume the food varies little between locations. I ordered the turkey panini. The menu said it came with turkey breast. For $7.59 (not including tax) I figured it would be pieces of fresh turkey breast not two thin slices of deli turkey, which turned out to be the case. The mango-habanero sauce was horrible. I could not taste any habanero and the mango was sickly sweet like mango jam had been used as opposed to fresh mango. The sauce soaked into the barely-toasted bread in minutes, rendering it a soggy mess. I didn't even finish it despite my hunger. My wife had the vegetarian panini. Again, the bread was soggy and very little was in the sandwich. This is the type of place that attempts to do something slightly exotic with food but ends up falling flat. Perhaps it's because the franschise tries to give a western flair to sandwiches while being based in Oklahoma. Stay away.
