If you're a true antique lover or collector, you must visit Monticello Antiques. Though out of the way of the majority of Norfolk antique stores, it's still in the downtown area and within walking distance from the cruise ship terminal at Nauticus. Monticello Antiques is NOT your let's-buy-something-under-$50-collectibles kind of an antique shop. But if you want prized antique furniture in your home, this is one of the best places to go in the country. You won't be greeted by dressed-in-a-coat-and-tie "Antique Roadshow" hosts, but the level of expertise, knowledge, and friendliness is unparalleled. After all, this is the shop used by the Chrysler Museum for Moses Myers House furniture restoration, so you've got to think these people know what they're doing. Bottom line: Well worth visiting and shopping.
