Leeum Samsung Museum of Art
The 27,000 square meter Samsung Museum of Art Complex was designed in 1997. It provides support to cultural and artistic activities, thus increasing their life span and raising their historical value. The Institute is involved in the following: conservation of metal and ceramic works, Korean paintings and contemporary and modern art works. Artworks are preserved here through application of the most advanced technology. The experts undertake the material study to establish appropriate environmental conditions and develop better conservation and restoration techniques.
Personally, i'm not a big fan of going to the museum, but it sort of has changed my travelling habit after visiting Leeum in Korea.
Each exhibition and collective is very attractive enough to draw attention, and the entire design of the meseum is amazingly impressive.
I've read brief about modern arts of Mr. Nam-Jun Paik, and it was definete my privilege having a chance to see his artworks as well as other paintings.
I've remained high satisfaction in the one of cultural exhibition site of Korea, and it was definetely appreciating experience spending time at Leeum.
Leeum was pricey but incredible, the initial museum of incredibly old and serene ceramics was nice, if a bit long, but any boredom is made up for by the crazy modern architechture which houses these traditional exhibits.
The best comes later though in Samsongs collection of modern Korean and Foreign art, with incredible Korean artists you may never have heard of before, but will never forget and pieces by famous western contemporary artitists which you don't usually find in books but are just as credible and usually more interesting than their flagship works.
Last but not least is the latest gallery, a real experiment in modern curation, my favourite bit, innovative exhibits meet innovative displaying techniques, even the floor is exciting.
Leeum is expensive and hard to find but well worth it as long as you don't buy lunch or souveneirs there.
