Quality Course and Getting Better
Some of the reviews here say that the greens were dead or that the fairways were in poor shape. Well they used to be. Within the past two years they've put in new pipes in the fairways and have completely redone the greens. At one point the greens were killed after there was a problem with the water. While that stinks, they made a bad situation into a good one and redid them completely. Now they're in great shape, and in my opinion are the best kept greens in town.
They've also rebuilt the maintainence buildings, and are in the process of renovating the clubhouse. Plus there are plans to redo the par 5 13th and place the green a bit father back onto a penninsula. The folks at Stumpy seem committed to becoming a high quality establishment.
I've also read that people have had trouble with the marshalls. While that may be, in two years I've never had a negative experience with the marshalls, or any of the staff for that matter. Always helpful.
Do be aware that when it rains, this course is on swamp land and the drainage isn't the best. In the summer it's generally not a big issue, however if there are a few thunderstroms in a week, it can get a little wet. The only other negative I can think of are the mosquitoes. While no one likes them, good luck finding anywhere in Tidewater without them.
Great course, decent price, good staff.
