Storybook Island, Rapid City

Booked party house 2 months previous to date, $75 includes party house and playground use. Got a call less than 1 day before stating that they wanted to decorate for xmas and playground and room was now unavailable. After much arguing was allowed to use room only and they still charged $75, would have changed venue but didn't have much choice less than 1 day before.

This is a really cute park, it really sparks the imagination. It's not full of rides or big attractions, but if you want something along the lines of a playground, it's great! My kid (10, 4 and 2) love it equally. It's really nice that the admission is free too.

This was a wonderful park and the kids ages 2 and 8 loved spending the morning at the park. Some of the stuff is getting kinda old and run down but nevertheless they enjoyed it. They offer a train ride through the park for a dollar a ride...worth it I guess. However, we were on vacation and the park was not what I expected. Would have rather taken in other attractions. Would not recommend to travelers on vacation but I wish they had a place closer to home to take my kids to for the afternoon. You make your own judgment call on this one....we will not return!

What a wonderful place - what could you not like. I send a heartfelt thank you to the Rapid City Rotary Club! My husband enjoyed Storybook Island when he was little, and now we were able to share it with our granddaughter, daughter, and son-in-law. Do not miss out on this place!

I LOVE this park!!!! My kids (3&2) had a blast climbing in a big dog dish with the pups from 101 Dalmations. And they sat next to DR. Suess while he read them a book. They rode a train all around the park for 75 cents. That was just three sites in the park. My younger brothers (16&17)even had fun. They were running as much as my kids were. My favorite part was Winnie the Pooh's house, and that it was free. I would reccomend this park to anyone. It was well worth it!!!!!!!!!!

This is a beautiful little park, full of statues from different storybooks and fairy tales. It is in the middle of a much bigger regular park. There is a fenced off area for smaller children. Our 9-year old thoroughly enjoyed the stop even with the drizzly rain. If it weren't for this park, I would say avoid Rapid City altogether and enjoy the surrounding areas of the Black Hills.

Storybook Island is such a cute place. It's free, and is located at a perfect place for a picnic. After you are done eating, load your stuff in the car and go and explore all of the fairytales! You can enjoy a cute play for free, or take many pictures. Kids can climb on just about everything, so you don't have to worry about them getting yelled at. Kids ages 9 and under would enjoy it most, but any age can have fun.

I LIVE IN THE BLACK HILLS AND HAVE BEEN TAKING MY KIDS AND FAMILY TO STORY BOOK ISLAND FOR NEARLY 30 YEARS. THE PARK HAS CONSTANTLY CHANGED OVER THE YEARS AND HAS NEW THINGS TO SEE EVERY TIME WE HAVE GONE TO VISIT. AS THE YEARS GO BY IT SEEMS WE ALWAYS END UP THERE FOR A PICNIC, REST AND LET THE KIDS PLAY. EVEN THE BIG KIDS LOVE IT. YOU DONATE WHAT YOU CAN FOR ADMISSION AND IT GOES TOWARD MAKING IMPROVEMENTS ON THE PARK. IT'S A WONDERFUL PLACE TO GO IN THE WINTER, TOO. THEY DECORATE IT WITH THOUSANDS OF CHRISTMAS LIGHTS FOR THE PUBLIC TO SEE. IT'S A GREAT PLACE TO TAKE KIDS OF ALL AGES FOR A VERY GOOD PRICE. HAVE FUN!!

First of all you cant beat the price. It's FREE! Loved the little maze the kids could go into. The train, was great. My kids loved the fact that they could touch and be around all their favorite storybook charactors.

When I saw my family pull into Story Book Island I thought oh no. This will crimp my teenage stile, but boy I was wrong! I ended up having an amazing time and I have a memory that will last a life time.
