New Jersey Korean War Memorial

Description

This memorial, located in Brighton Park, was dedicated in July of 2000, partially funded by the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA). The prominent feature is a 12-foot-high statue of "The Mourning Soldier." The names of the 822 New Jerseyans who were killed in action or are missing in action are engraved on the back wall.

Humbling Honor

This was our first trip to AC and we stumbled across the memorial while walking the boardwalk. It is beautifully crafted, though small in size. I was able to get some great photos as it was quite foggy during our first visit. The plaques remind us of our forefathers sacrifices and everyone should pause at the monument atleast once in their vacation.

A Long Time Coming

It was so wonderful to finally see these men get the recognition that they deserved. And this was a perfect place to put the Korean Memorial, so close to the magnificient Atlantic Ocean, I don't know how many Korean War Memorals there are in the US but I am proud to see New Jersey leading the way to giving recognition the the men who gave their lives for our county to stay free. I got shivers just being there. What a great job. Don't miss it.

Nice break from casinos

We should all be reminded daily the sacrifice of others, but the "could you help a disabled vet beggars" I'm sure weren't vets The time share people need booths so they quit harrassing people, they made it difficult to enjoy the board walk.
