Brulee: The Dessert Experience
This dessert only restaurant is a perfect way to top off an evening after dining; dessert captains put on a tableside show while employing flamb, dusting, spinning, and painting in the creation of spectacular desserts.
My husband & I decided to try out someplace different for a "dessert experience." Our desserts were just ok, the chocolate cake was too dry. Everything was grossly over-priced, the music was too loud, and what's up with the seating? We would never return, and never recommend this place.
This is in response to all these apparently bogus reviews. My girlfriend and I decided to splurge and indulge ourselves in something special. So we chose to dine at Brulee in July of 2005. Our experience is one in which we still both remember with great vividy. I ordered a dessert entitled "Somebody got chocolate in my peanut butter". It consisted of a four level peanut butter mousse cake. The first layer was a vanilla spounge cake followed by three different mousses: one chocolate, then a chocolate & peanut butter, and the top layer was a straight peanut butter mousse. This was accompanied by a peanut butter crunch ice cream and a vibrant colored apricot sauce. It ran me 21 dollars, now remember this was just my "entree". Your meal comes with a starter (amuse) and a plate of petitfores, all of which are included in your entree price. I could go on in great detail more about the food that evening, but I will just sum it up by saying everything was great. From start to finish our experience at Brulee was magnificent. Remember however these aren't your everyday "Friendly's" desserts and are priced accordingly. The entire meal with drinks, tax, and tip ran me roughly 60 bucks. So in closing I would highly recommend it to anyone willing to spend some money on something to remember. However, it is not your daily dining place.
I have not been to this place, but most of the reviews are not very nice. If you want to try a place that is wonderful, but no $1000 brownies, the next time you visit Tampa FL check out the dessert room at Berns Steakhouse. All of the dessets are homemade and yes they do have very pricey spirits that are worth the price.
I went there with my invisible friend, I'll name him "Fred" for safety reasons. Fred and I went to Brulee's from my parents basement. After looking over the menu, I decided upon the brownie and a piece of Cod Cake. Noticing the bill was around $1,350, I was immediately overjoyed that the restuarant was obviously trying to reward good taste in cuisine with overly cheap prices. The brownie arrived, covered in gold dust. I wondered for a second if this extra flourish was truly needed, but I forced the negative thought to pass. Upon forcing the delicacy down, I leaned back and grinned, concent with the experience. Go here, you will NOT regret at all. Trust me, I'm a dentist.
There should be a sign on the door of this place that reads: If you have a weak heart do not enter. Plan to get taken to the cleaners.
Talk about sticker shock. I was there at a trade show and a vendor took me to here to talk business. We ordered a 1 drink and 1 dessert each. When she received the bill, I thought I had to call 911 because of the gasp, the studdering and the shock on her face. She was in a daze for a couple of seconds until the reality of the bill set in.
In short if you want to eat here, you need to take a 2nd mortgage on your home. It does not matter how good the ambiance or the service was, what you remember is I ate a small piece of something that cost me a bloody fortune.
Maybe if you win enough at the table they might comp you here.
way too over priced, I have had FREE appetizer type desserts at the Conrad Hilton that were better. Drinks are also over priced. I really wanting to give a no star rating but the computer wouldn't let me.
A certain crowd belongs in certain establishments. Sounds like Denny's is for the people who write these reviews. Brulee is for those who appreciate the finer things in life. Give me a break with all of the criticism...the place rocks!
for any human being to spend that amount of money for dessert is a disgrace.i would ask just one of you to go to the boardwalk in the morning and watch as the homeless come up from their homes under the boardwalk.why not give up dessert for one night and give one of these poor souls a meal. i guarantee it will be more satisfying.
