I recently had pfefferrahmschnitel here and it as the best I ever tasted. I have been to Germany many times and this was good German food. I cannot believe the bad reviews. If you like good german food you should give it a chance. Great German beer also!
Four of us went to this restaurant this evening for the first time and it will be the last. We had the potato pancakes for an appetizer and they were good. One of us had the Gulasch and they said it was good. One had one of the Schnitzels and said it was just OK. One other and myself had the Sauerbraten and we both thought it was terrible. The gravy was overloaded with corn starch and gelatenous and tasteless. The sauerkraut was bad and unlike any kraut I have ever had. I am a German and I have had Sauerbraten many, many times and this was by far the bottom of the barrel.
My family and I have visited this restaurant 3 time and we have been very happy with the meals we have chosen. My mother being a Berliner also was happy with what she had eaten. If there is any knock it would be the interior decor, it needs more stuff to bring that Southern German Bavarian touch.
My wife and I went to this restaurant last evening for dinner and we were very disappointed. My salad looked like a salad that you would get at any fast food chain with a dressing to match; my sauerbraten was tough and the spretzel was very doughy. My wife had the fish fry (5 tiny fried perch HALVES, the size of a large sardine) which were tasty but hardly enough for even her small appetite. Her potato pancakes were very doughy and barely tasted of potatoes. Despite the small portions and considering the price (17.99 and 13.99 respectively) neither of us finished our meal. The restaurant is lacking of any authentic German quality; the host was wearing a Bavarian vest, not German. Clear glass mugs with t-shirts inside were for sale for a ridiculous price. There was nothing authentic about either. All in all, it was a very disappointing and expensive experience for a transplanted German who was looking for a little taste of home and a restaurant that he could reommend to his German friends.
