Unexpected Surprises

I went to the Museum of Man to see the Copper Age exhibit, which of course I found very interesting, but I ended up spending my entire day there engrossed in each of the exhibits I kept discovering in the various rooms and halls.
The Mayan Exhibit is absolutely extraordinary with the excellent educational signage and the impressive reproductions of the Mayan artifacts!!! I had seen some of the Mayan artifacts in southeastern Mexico, but to see reproduced in such large size in your museum was absolutely amazing!
I enjoyed the African Art works especially the unique sculptures.
The Edward S. Curtis Refocused Native American photography exhibit gave me lots more to think about. I have always had a special interest in this area since my Uncle Hank spent a great deal of time on an Indian Reservation in Arizona.
The Egyptian mummies/art, other mummies from Mexico, Denmark, and other locations helped me to again focus on the connection of cultures. I had studied the mummies/bodies found in the Irish bogs in Ireland, and I found it interesting to understand that bogs in other countries also have these mummies/bodies.
I particularly appreciated the excellent signage and the variety of all of the exhibits that seemed to represent every continent or part of the world.
THANK YOU!!
