STOKEN' DONUTS and DELI, Mojave

STOKEN' DONUTS and DELI is hard to put a finger on exactly what this place is. When you pull up to the front of the building it looks like an old school house. Then you look at the old sign over the front door and it reads KERN COUNTY FREE LIBRARY? But then you see smaller signs at the entry that read DONUTS, COFFEE, and DELI? When you go in, it feels like going back in time 40 or 50 years. This place is so cool because the owners have taken an abandon county library building and turned into a STOKEN' DONUTS and DELI SHOP that serve everything from donuts made fresh daily, breakfast sandwiches, biscuits and gravy, deli sandwiches with deli meat they slice daily, hot sandwiches, soups, salads, chili, footlong hotdogs and polish dogs, THRIFTY ICECREAM, and so much more!!!!! Like I said it's hard to put a finger on this place as to what they are since they offer such a varity of items. Their not fast food since the quality is so much more and the items are prepared when ordered not sitting in warming trays ready to be served, and their not a traditional sit-down resturant since their seating is limited and they serve their food on take out basis. STOKEN' DONUTS and DELI is located just off the main road on BELSHAW ST. Just look for the SHELL STATION or DAYS INN ''SIGNS'' and turn there!! You cant miss them.This place is a hidden gem in MOJAVE. The quality of their food is so much more than what I thought you could find in MOJAVE. And their prices are more than fare for this kind of quality. Just a WARNING to those who insist on the big corporate science of fast food by getting your money and getting you out the door in 3 minutes or less under perfect circumstances, this is not the place for you, I would suggest for you true fast food would be better for you, as for me I am more than willing to wait a few extra minutes for quality food and people that actually treat you like someone they care about and not just a number. Just to let you in on a couple little secrets, if you don't see something in writing just ask and they probley can make it the way you want it, remember this isn't fast food, if your in a rush at lunch time and can't risk it running long, It would be best to call in your order 30 minutes or more ahead and they will have ready for you when you get there, and if you just gotta have one of their deli sandwiches for lunch but are not going to be in the area at lunch time , just stop by first thing in the morning and ask for a brown bag lunch and they will make a full blown deli sandwich for you first thing in the morning!! DON'T FORGET THEY HAVE A DRIVE-THRU THAT CAN BE USED TO PICK UP THOSE PHONE IN ORDERS AT LUNCH!!!!!!!!
