This spot has gained the trust of all customers with years of quality service and excellent products. Their sandwiches are made with the best sausages, which they themselves make at the shop, which is located in the same establishment as the bar. At the delicatessen you can buy products you have just eaten at the bar. Some of the recommended fare on offer is casserole, cheese and fresh whitebait. All well accompanied by Jerez wines and Sherries.
Leaving aside that the food was indeed very good, one of the restaurant's stuff, most likely the head guy, was a very wise person. Speaking English is something that you should forget, so I tried my Spanish which is not poor but still not very good. As soon as the head guy understood that my Spanish was poor, he started to express nasty language, while he was laughing. And he seemed to enjoy it because he thought I cound not understand. So I left him being happy with what he thought he had accomplished and I reported the incident to the hotel, from where they had recomended him.
We very much enjoyed our pinchos in this rustic local restaurant. Interesting Catalan fare served on carved wood boards.
Upon entering the establishment there is a deli case to the left and bar to the right.
Beyond is a room with tables and crowded with locals. Intimate with excellent service, we sampled a board of iberian ham, a meat platter piled high with another type of ham, smoked salmon, beef and roast turkey with gravy(what?) on top of it. Another speciality was a dish of fried breadcrumbs with grapes - sounds strange but interesting.
Potato croquettes were delicious as were crispy spinach balls with a melty cheese center. A few bottles of wine & we were good to go. Only one bad note, which is typical anywhere in Barcelona, too much cigarette smoke in the confined space. Have fun and say hi from Karen & Dave
First of all, Alfonso is a positive bloke who is always busy making his customers at ease and his personell working. Second, the meals (in the rear) and the tapas (in the front) are just a little different from what you are used to (and that's not bad either). It makes you wonder what specific flavors you are tasting which you do not expect in that combination. Third, nobody woh is not a regular in Barcelona knows this, so it's nice and cosy.
This place is always full at the weekends with people who come to enjoy the carefully prepared traditional Asturian dishes.
The quality of the fish and shellfish is excellent. They serve all the northern Spanish favourites, like bean stew ...
