LOEI , 147km west of Udon Thani, is really only useful as a transport hub. Buses run here from Udon and Khon Kaen every thirty minutes, from Phitsanulok five times a day and from Bangkok eighteen times a day, while frequent songthaews and small green buses link the town to Chiang Khan (1hr). They all use the bus terminal on Highway 201, the main north–south road, about 2.5km south of the centre.
