Kranjska Gora, Slovenia

Tucked away in the extreme northwestern corner of the country, on the doorstep of Triglav National Park, the small town of Kranjska Gora is Slovenia's number one winter playground. Kranjska Gora is a major winter sports venue, with Slovenia's first ski jump and ski lifts constructed here in 1934 and 1950 respectively. While its skiing is undoubtedly the main draw, during the summer it's an excellent base from which to embark on any number of hikes, while cyclists will appreciate the extensive network of recently established, and very well-marked, cycle paths.
