Most visitors pass straight through HAMILTON, 127km south of Auckland, but it's a pretty enough place, well sited on the banks of the languid green Waikato River and surrounded by parks. It's worth devoting a couple of hours to the Museum of Art and History and the tranquil Hamilton Gardens, and taking a paddle-steamer cruise on the river. And as befits New Zealand's fourth-largest city, there's a decent-sized student population, and lively term-time nightlife.

Yay! I won a car on Trade Me! Nissan Sentra 1994 Cost more $1500 and less than $2000 Pick up is Tuesday Packed our bags today. No water cause of council problems with supply so limited doing other stuff. V & E need more days to pack for their trip so we are leaving on Sunday the 13th instead from Pauanui. Left home at 6:30pm to catch our Plane at Dunedin. The Plane was meant to leave at 8:45pm but got delayed until 9:20pm and as a result we flew directly into Auckland where we caught a taxi to stay at the Grand Chancellor Hotel in Mangere and didn't get to bed until after midnight.
