SAN QUINTÍN is the first town of any size south of Ensenada, and even here, though there are a couple of big hotels, most of the buildings look temporary. There's no reason to stop here unless you intend to head to Bahía San Quintín , which is undeniably attractive, with five cinder-cone volcanoes as a backdrop to a series of small sandy beaches, and endless fishing (though not without a permit) and superb clamming that draw campers and RV drivers.
