BINTULU , close to Niah national park is a boom town, grown rich on offshore gas. The only sights worth visiting are the markets : the day market, housed in two large, open-sided circular buildings overlooking the river at the west end of Main Bazaar, the adjacent pasar tamu and, across town, the pasar malam , which starts up at around 6pm in the long-distance bus station. The town's compact rectangle of streets is bordered by the airfield to the east and Sungei Kemena to the west, with nothing much of interest in between. more »
