Sandwiched between sea and cliffs on the northern lip of Sandakan Bay, SANDAKAN isn't an appealing city, but does make a good base for day-trips to the Sepilok Orang-utan Rehabilitation Centre , wildlife-spotting river trips on the Sungei Kinabatangan , Turtle Islands Park , and the Gomantong Caves . Twelve kilometres from the centre (at batu 8) is a crocodile farm (RM2).
