Much of the peninsula has become built up over the years, but it still holds only one true town, QUIBERON at its southern tip. Its most active area, Port-Maria , is home to the gare maritime for the islands of Belle-Île, Houat and Hoëdic, and also holds a fishing harbour that was once famous for its sardines. Stretching away to the east is a long curve of fine sandy beach, lined for several hundred yards with bars, cafes and restaurants.
