Owned by NASCAR superstar Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Whisky River is one of the most popular night spots for Charlotte's hip and happening. Inviting crowds from all areas, Whiskey Bar also boasts a VIP section for the elite. The club hosts various live performances by popular artists and world class DJs. The place uniquely adds southern charm to a nightclub and it is also available for private parties and performances. Perfect for a night out on the town, and if you are lucky, you might even spot a celebrity here.
My friend won a party which was supposed to give us discounted drinks, free entrance, and free appetizers until 10pm. We arrived at 830 and noone bothered to tell us where the appetizers were and the bartenders did not discount any of our drinks. The website claims that these parties are awesome and they make you feel that you've won something special when actually, it's just a way to get you in the door and they do not give you anything special. Overall, we had a good time but moreso because I enjoyed the group I was with. The slutty girls dancing in the boxed-in area were a little creepy for me. The staff did not go out of their way to be polite, except for the mechanical bull guy-he was very nice. I have no intentions of going back there - it was really not a place that will stand out from others when I am looking for a fun night out.
It was fun but too expensive and the food and beer were just below average. Lots of women dressed a bit trampy but if you are a young guy you might like that. I had heard the staff was rude, they were neither rude nor nice just average. The barbeque sandwich was not very authentic you can get it anywhere and the wings were above average but not awesome. I think the place is busy because of who owns it. I would not take time to go there unless a group wanted to go and I would not make a fuss to avoid it either. Just average with a fun atmosphere that can be found in many places all over the U.S.
