GREAT FUN. GREAT FOOD. Call Faisal ahead of time. Always a line to get in. It's just the best place for an inexpensive, quality meal with entertainment and a staff who cares about your experience. Everything on the menu is excellent. We keep coming back for more.
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! my wife and I saw Dametra's online and saw the great reviews and all and decided to dine here. Sometimes reviews can be a little misleading as we all know, but in this case Dametra's overly exceeded our already high expectations! This place takes you away on a jouney that is so wonderful and relaxing, you feel like you stepped into someones home not a restaurant...filled with music singing clapping and Oh the food... you dont want it to end. From when you first walk in, until the time you leave the owners and staff make you feel like part of the family not a customer. And as it was our anniversary we were blessed by a special song from Antonio the chef, as well as a special desert on the house! If you dine anywhere in Carmel, make it Dametra Cafe or you will miss out on a very special moment in time. As for my wife and I, We can't wait until our next visit, even if its just to go for an early dinner and drive home....it would be sooo well worth the drive and all! Pat & Carlene, Dixon, Ca.
Gabrial and his younger cousin Fifel run this resturant.
We had a wonderful time! The food was not only delicious but Orgasmic!!! the staff was so charming and fun,Gabrial recomeneded a faboulous wine. We felt as thought we were in eating with a family in Greece. We sang and clapped and enjoyed a fabulous meal..it made our trip. Please go if you get the chance. Make reservations if your smart, but its worth the wait their was a line when we left. We will be back!! They know how to treat customers.
What a wonderful surprise! The food was not only delicious but the staff was so charming, you felt as thought you were in eating with a family in Greece. We sang and clapped and enjoyed a fabulous meal..it made our trip. Please go if you get the chance.
I had lunch at Dametra for the first time yesterday. The food was fantastic and flavorful, the service efficient and friendly, and the cost was surprisingly reasonable. I had the chicken Shawarma sandwich, which was big enough for two people, which came with a delicious salad. I took half the sandwich home and ate it many hours later and it was still delicious. The aioli that came with it added a gourmet quality to the sandwich. I'm planning to go back soon and suggest that anyone who loves good food try lunch or dinner at Dametra.
This was our first time at Dametra. We went went with another couple with whom we have shared many memorable dinners over the last 25 years. Our expectations were not high, as we have been disappointed too many times. However, this was not one of those times. We were greeted by Bashar, one of the owners, who greeted us as if we were long lost friends. Service was excellent, and the server was willing to offer well thought out suggestions. But the best part was the food. Very well prepared, served hot (or cold as appropriate), spiced to perfection. The other owner, Faisal, runs the kitchen, but he and Bashar serenaded all of the restaurant with music on several occasions.
The amazing thing is that there were new customers still coming in at 9:45pm. Hey folks, this is Carmel, where they roll up the streets at 8pm, even on Saturday night. In my 7 years of living and dining in Carmel, I have never seen a restaurant as busy, as lively, as welcoming as Dametra. Now, if they could only do something about the noise! It was difficult to carry on a conversation.
Oh, the biggest surprise was the check, only about $100 for a party of 4, which included appetizers, salads and entrees. We brought our own wine, and there was no charge for corkage. Comppare that with $30 corkage at nearby Casanova, and you get the idea.
Very much worth a repeat visit.
