At the mouth of the Clyde River and the end of the highway from Canberra, BATEMANS BAY is a favourite escape for the landlocked residents of the capital, just 152km away. It's not the most exciting place on the coast, but it's a fair-sized resort with plenty to do. The town itself is focused around Clyde and Orient streets, which run into one another. Beach Road runs alongside the river to the pleasant marina, then southeast past a string of good beaches – the further you go, the nicer they get.

290 Kms via the beautiful little town of Berry. Stayed at Lincon Downs for the night. Christmas Day - Peacocks paid a visit to our room in the morning. Down the aptly named Sapphire Coast, around 200 kms to Merimbula. Via Bermagui, Tahra and Narooma. Travelled through the stunning Mimosa Rocks National Park with kms of Spotted Gum trees. Then along the breathtaking blues of the empty beaches. Boxing Day and the whole town suddenly came to life the day after Christmas. Travelled 50 Kms to the Bega cheese centre and picked up some nice cheeses and fudge. Went to the beach but the water was freez...
